Accelerate joint procurement

Finalise and implement the Eastern Region Procurement Framework and demonstrate collaborative procurement and shared services amongst ERG councils.

This involves analysing data, developing a roadmap, and reporting twice a year to the ERG on progress, benefits realised, upcoming contract renewals and opportunities for collaboration.

As part of the process, the ERG is supporting Procurement Managers from across its six councils to develop a framework for regional collaboration and develop a road map of priorities.

To date, data analysis is nearing completion and benchmarking of key procurement variables is underway, along with high level comparative analysis of council policies and liaison with other regional groups and the sector.

In 2017, ERG councils plus Boroondara, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise commitment to collaborative procurement activity. Several joint procurement activities in areas such as line marking, road surfacing and organics disposal have already resulted in savings of 3-15% in most areas. More projects are underway, for example an investigating of joint procurement for drainage works.
